Timur Tomato Achar (Chutney)

Here’s a quick recipe for a tongue-tingling and mouth-numbing experience followed by the tangy touch of the tomatoes and the sweetness of the caramelized onion. Let’s make some Timur Tomato chutney.

Timur Tomato Achar

Ingredients:

  • 4 big chopped Tomatoes
  • 1 small chopped Onion
  • 3 cloves of chopped Garlic
  • 2 chopped chilies ( As per your taste)
  • A small piece of chopped Ginger
  • 5-7 Sattva Timur berries
  • 2 tablespoon of Mustard oil
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds 
  • Salt (As per taste)
  • Mint leaves or Coriander leaves ( for Garnishing)

Recipe:

Preparing the ingredients

  • Heat up the mustard oil and add cumin seeds.
  • Then add roughly chopped ginger, garlic, and onion
  • Saute until the ingredients release the raw smell
  • Add the tomatoes and cook until the tomatoes soften
  • After the tomatoes soften, turn off the heat. Let the mixture cool down for a couple of minutes.

Making the Chutney

  • Transfer the mixture to a blender. Add Sattva Timur or peppercorns and salt (as per taste).
  • Grind the mixture until it turns into a thick paste
  • Garnish it with Mint leaves or Coriander leaves. Serve with Rotis, rice, fritters, etc.
